| What
Year Did You Start Supporting United |
| 1985 |
| Why
United |
| Wasn't
interested in football til the age of 10. My Dad was a neutral
(he had a wee thing for Motherwell), brother was a Hun and all
my pals supported different teams, Rangers, Celtic, Aberdeen,
United, etc. I decided I would support the first Scottish team
that I filled in my Panini Sticker Book, which was.... Dumbarton!!
So decided to go for the nearest best team. Hadn't heard of
Raith Rovers, St. Johnstone and Dunfermline (were all in the
lower divisions) so it was between United, Dundee, Hearts or
Hibs. Dundee was nearer than Edinburgh, and Dundee were shite!
So United it was!! Later found out my grandad was from Dundee,
so it all made sense. |
| First
United Match |
| United
v. Hearts at Tannadice in a 1-1 draw, November 1985. Richard
Gough scored a last minute equiliser. My Dad reckons I was at
a United match at Tannadice in the early 80's but I don't recall
it. Although I remember being outside Hampden for the 1980 Scottish
Cup final between United and Rangers! (My Dad & brother
were at the game). |
| Favourite
All-Time Player |
| Dave Narey.
The man was just pure class. |
| Favourite
Current Player |
| At the
minute it's hard to choose between Robson (Ginger Genius), Noel
Hunt (only player I have ever seen who does sliding tackles
with his head!) and Wilkie (who has been HUGE for United this
season) |
| When
did you first hear about the Glenrothes Arabs and how? |
| Had been
travelling up to Dundee on the train from Cupar until my Mum
noticed an advert in the Glenrothes Gazzette for a United Supporters
Club from Glenrothes. The first match I went to on the bus was
my first real away match, which was the first game of the 1988/89
season at Love Street. |
| Most
Memorable Goal |
| Brewster.
May 1994. |
| Best/Favourite
Goal |
| Iain Ferguson's
half way strike against Hearts, December 1986. |
| Regretted
Missing a Game |
| Would loved
to have been at the UEFA Cup games in 1986/87. Don't think I
got to a game that whole season. Probably the best season ever...apart
from the heartbreak at the end. |
| Favourite
Away Ground
|
| Used to
be Pittodrie in the 80's/90's. Don't have one these days, although
love the Away Cup days to the likes of QoS, Gretna etc. so I
can score more away grounds of my list to go to. |
| Worst
Away Ground |
| Ibrox and
Parkhead. Don't go to either anymore because I dont' enjoy being
surrounded by scum! If I wanted to hear religious songs for
90 minutes I'd go to f&%king church! |
| Best
Home Match |
| The first
one. Was a fan for a year or two before I got to my first game,
seeing all your hero's in the flesh for the first time. |
| Best
Away Match |
| United
winning 3-0 at Ibrox, December 1994. Right in the middle of
their 9 in a row. And to top it off Ian Ferguson got sent off!

| Ever
Cried at a Game |
| 1988 Cup
Final - 1991 Cup Final - 1994 Cup Final - 1996 Partick Thistle
Play-Off - 2001 Lilley's hat-trick at McDiarmid Park...Christ!
I'm worse than a woman! |
| Proudest
United Moment |
| 1986/87
UEFA Cup run. From Kevin Gallacher's "cross" against Barcelona
to John Clark's strike against Gothenburg. |

You've Travelled to Watch United |
| European
trips to Antwerp (Belgium 1989), Arnhem (Holland 1990), Andorra
(CE Principat 1997) and Annjalankoski (MyPa, Finland 2005).
Seem to be working my way through the alphabet! |

English Team |
| Have alway's
had a soft spot for Liverpool, but these days I'm more of a
Manchester United hater! |
| Most
Disliked Team |
| The whole
religious thing with Rangers and Celtic really pisses me off.
|
| Most
Prized United Possession |
| Either
still having all 180 minutes of the Barcelona games on video,
or my autographed 1994 Scottish Cup Winners top, signed by Brewster.
And a photo with him, me and the Cup. |

Fact |
|
Andy and
myself had a pre-match interview with Jim McLean back in 1993....
then the next day he announced he was stepping down as manager
at the end of the season! Was it something we said?!
