EDDIE
THOMPSON TRIBUTE & FUNERAL
Not much more
can be said about the sad passing of Dundee United Chairman Eddie
Thompson - I feel the tribute below from A90 Arab Society and Federation
chairman Shug Falconer sums up how we are all feeling...
"Today
is the saddest day for all Dundee United supporters. We have lost
a wonderful father figure whose massive physical, emotional &
financial contribution will always be revered amongst us.
Eddie`s
passion, commitment, tenaciousness and determination for Dundee
United FC and its supporters to enjoy the success we all craved
made him a Chairman who was not only hugely admired by all Arabs
but by opposition fans also, a feat that shows the respect he commanded
not only at our Club but within the whole Scottish game.
The
courage, bravery and devotion to our team shown by Eddie during
the latter stages of his illness dispels the myth that there are
no heroes anymore; Eddie Thompson is a hero to all of us.
We
are all heartbroken today; the heartfelt love and sympathy of every
Dundee United FC supporter goes out to Cath, Steven, Justine and
the family.
Shug
Falconer
Chairman, Federation"
Anyone wishing
to head up to see the "Shrine" to Eddie outside of the
gates at Tannadice on Sunday, get in touch with Bryan. Huge thanks
to Gus and Craig (on behalf of the Glenrothes Arabs) for being some
of the first fans to lay shirts and flowers on the day of Eddie's
death. Anyone wishing to head up to Dundee on Wednesday for the
funeral, again could you get in touch with Bryan. Thanks

WEBSITE
GETS A FACELIFT!
The GLENROTHES
ARABS website has a new look as from today.
After a successful
run from its first launch in 2003 as Ian McCall became Dundee United
manager, it has seen the reigns of Gordon Chisolm and Craig Brewster
come and go, and witnessed Craig Levein take the club back to where
they belong in the top half of the SPL.
All the old
features will still be here, with the likes of the Arab Profiles,
Player A-Z, History Section, Europe, Quiz Section and the Photo
Gallery all to be updated in time. Instead of "reinventing
the wheel", certain areas will now take you to pages on the
Offical Dundee United F.C. website.
