Paul Sturrock signed Aljofree from Bolton Wanderers before the 2000/01 season, and the player made his debut in the opening game against Celtic at Tannadice. Sturrock resigned soon after but Aljofree remained in the starting eleven after Alex Smith's appointment as manager, and scored his first goal for the club in a 2-1 defeat to St Johnstone at Tannadice. He hardly missed a game right through until February when injury prevented him from appearing as United survived the relegation battle with St Mirren and he missed out on a semi-final appearance at Hampden against Celtic. The following season he missed only 10 games and scored 5 times, including 2 in a 4-0 win over Forres Mechanics in the Scottish Cup. After only 1 appearance at the start of the 2002/03 season, Aljofree was off to Plymouth Argyle to join up again with Paul Sturrock.
