The giant blond winger made his debut against Rangers in December 1964, making him the third of Jerry Kerr's Scandinavian imports after Orjan Persson and Finn Dossing and was soon followed by Lennart Wing. Their introduction to the team took United on a fantastic run where they were only beaten 3 times between Christmas and the end of the season, with Berg scoring 5 times, two against Clyde in a 6-0 win at Tannadice. Berg underwent a back operation before the start of the 1965/66 season, missing the entire campaign, and played in only 11 matches the following season, missing out on the clubs' first ever European matches against Barcelona and Juventus. By 1967/68 Berg figured fairly regularly in the side, often from the bench, but never quite reproduced the devastating form he had shown before injury, and by the end of that season returned home to Denmark. Berg scored a total of seven goals for United, all of them at Tannadice.
