Kenny Cameron
Forward

United Debut: Forfar (A) Forfarshire Cup 6/5/68.

Signed From: Kilmarnock £8,000 6/5/68.

Transferred to: Montrose (player/coach) May 1974.

Cameron started off his senior career at Dundee where he scored in the 1964 Scottish Cup Final, went to Kilmarnock in 1967, and was signed by Jerry Kerr the following year. Coming in after the Scandinavian era, Cameron became the first United player to be the League's top scorer in his first season, scoring 27 goals in 34 matches. A regular scorer over the next 4 years, he played in the Fairs Cup match at Newcastle the following season and scored 5 goals in a 10-1 win over Brechin City in the Forfarshire Cup. When Jim McLean came in as manager he persuaded Kenny to take up coaching, and when the likes of Andy Gray and Graeme Payne came through from the Youth set up, Kenny left to become player/coach at Montrose in 1974, later becoming their manager. Cameron returned to Tannadice and spent many years as Chief Scout, unearthing many talents for McLean.
