Dodds made his debut for United in 1976, and eventually established himself as United's main striker in 1978/79, finishing top scorer with 10 goals. Dodds went on to score over 20 goals in each of the next 4 seasons, scoring 6 hat-tricks, and was a major contributor to the League winning season with 22 goals. A big player for United in Europe, Dodds scored against the likes of Monaco, PSV Eindhoven, Manchester United and Roma, and scored the goal that took the club to the European Cup Semi-Finals in 1984. Half of the legendary forward line with Paul Sturrock in the early 80's, Dodds also helped the club win the League Cup for the second time by scoring one of the three goals at Dens in 1980. One of only two players to ever score over 100 Premier League goals for United, the other being his striking partner Sturrock.
