Not long after taking over from Billy Kirkwood, manager Tommy McLean signed his old Motherwell goalkeeper Dykstra from QPR, and it didn't take long for the flambouyant keeper to become a favourite with the fans. From the moment he made his debut at Rugby Park in December 1996, Dykstra made the keepers jersey his own for the next two seasons, and played in every match during the 1997/98 season. A big keeper who would come for crosses no matter how far out, he also saved a few penalties, including a last minute Andy Walker spot kick save against Ayr United in the quarter finals of the Scottish Cup in 1999. After deciding to move on at the end of the 1998/99 season, Sieb came of the bench for his replacement Alan Combe for a final farewell to the fans in the last game of the season against Celtic.
