Victor Ferreyra
Forward

United Debut: v. Motherwell (H) 2-2 28/9/91.

Signed From: San Lorenzo £350,000 Oct 1991.

Transferred to: Mitsubishi (Japan) £175,000 27/2/93.

Equalled United's record transfer fee (at the time held by Michael O'Neill) when he was signed by Jim McLean in 1991 for £350,000, and scored 2 goals in a 4-0 win at Brockville in only his second game for United. A skillful, exciting player, Ferreyra had an unneccessary habit of hitting the floor whenever he could, earning himself a bad name with referees and eventually got no favours from them, even when he was fouled. Ferreyra was also involved in an infamous incident at Ibrox when he allegedly spat at Andy Goram, which was missed by the referee, but not by Jim McLean! Scored in a 2-0 win at Pittodrie in 1992, and in a classic 2-3 League Cup Quarter Final against Rangers at Tannadice the following season, but fell out of the first team and left for Japan midway through the season.
