Andy Gray
Forward

United Debut: v. Motherwell (A) 0-4 LC 18/8/73.

Signed From: Clydebank Strollers May 1973.

Transferred to: Aston Villa £110,000 27/9/75.

A fearless striker with an awsome aerial ability, within weeks of signing for United, Gray had made his debut at the age of 17 and by the end of his first season was a first team regular, finished as United's top scorer with 18 goals, with 4 in one match against Dumbarton, and had played in the Scottish Cup Final against Celtic. The following season he finished as the League's joint top scorer along with future United player Willie Pettigrew (then with Motherwell) with 20 goals, only one of two United players to do so, and United could no longer hold onto him. At the start of the following season, the first year of the Premier Division, Aston Villa took Gray down south, and a successful career in English football began.
