Signed in 1967 by manager Jerry Kerr, Henry made his debut during the 1969/70 season, and went on to play in 24 matches that season, scoring 2 goals. At the start of the following season, Henry was selected for the Scottish League Team to play the League of Ireland at Celtic Park, and played in United's European ties against Grasshoppers and Sparta Prague. He became a first team regular at Tannadice that season and scored 2 goals in a Scottish Cup 3rd Round Replay against Clydebank. Henry played in only 22 matches the following season, and was involved in a failed transfer to Fulham. Henry again failed to hold down a regular place in the first team during the 1972/73 season, playing in 20 matches, and half way through the 1973/74 season, he was transferred to Aberdeen for £20,000. Two years later le left for America to plat for San Antonio but returned to Forfar in 1978.
