After spending 5 years with Kilmarnock, Innes was signed by Ian McCall three games into the 2003-04 season after new signing Scott Paterson had been injured at Parkhead, and made his debut against Rangers at Tannadice. Part of a 3 man defence with Alan Archibald and David McCracken, Innes missed only 7 games throughout the rest of that season as United climbed up the SPL to fifth after a poor start, scoring his first goal for the club against Dunfermline in a 3-2 win at Tannadice. He started the following season well, scoring in the 3-1 League Cup win over Stranraer and again against Inverness CT in a 2-1 home victory, but after losing his place through suspension, Innes fell out of favour with McCall and was transferred to Gretna in the January transfer window after just 18 months at the club. |
