David Partridge
Defender

United Debut: v Celtic (H) 1-2 23/5/99.

Signed From: West Ham United £40,000 11/3/99.

Transferred to: Motherwell 19/7/02.

Manager Paul Sturrock signed 21 year-old Partridge from West Ham during the 1998/99 season, and he made his first team debut in the final game of that season, coming off the bench against Celtic at Tannadice. The following season he became the regular partner of Jason de Vos at centre-half, missing only 6 games throughout the season as United dropped from 3rd place in the league to finish 8th. After Sturrock's resignation at the start of the 2000/01 season, Partridge was used more as cover by Alex Smith after the return from injury of Danny Griffin and the arrival of Jim Lauchlan, although he still appeared 38 times over the next two seasons. Ex-United coach Terry Butcher came in to take Partridge to Fir Park at the end of the 2001/02 season and he later went on the play for the Welsh International team.
