Signed From: Orgryte 2/12/64.

The first of Jerry Kerr's Scandinavian imports, Persson was a tall, classy winger who's pinpoint crosses were instrumental in United's rise in the late 60's Persson and fellow countryman Lennart Wing were the first ever United players to be capped at Full International level, and their experience in European football helped United in their first ever European matches against Barcelona in 1966, with United famously winning both legs. After only 6 goals in the previous two seasons, Persson banged in 11 goals that season, finishing United's 3rd top scorer. Persson left for Ibrox before the start of the 1967/68 season in a player exchange with Davie Wilson and Wilson Wood, and went on to play in the 1970 World Cup.
