Davie Wilson
Winger

United Debut: v. Celtic (A) LC 0-1 12/8/67.

Signed From: Rangers (player exchange*) 3/8/67.

Transferred to: Dumbarton 1972.

Wilson had a successful spell at Ibrox, where he played in the 1961 European Cup Winners Cup Final, before coming to Tannadice with Wilson Wood in a *player exchange with Orjan Persson, and was an ideal replacement for Persson out on the wing, where he played for 4 seasons with United. Scoring his fair share of goals as a winger, Wilson was involved in some of the highest scoring matches ever seen at Tannadice, scoring in the 5-6 Scottish Cup defeat by Hearts in 1968, and the 5-4 League victory over Morton in 1970, and during his time at Rangers he once scored 6 goals in one game against Falkirk. Wilson played in United's home Fairs' Cup match against Newcastle in 1969. Transferred to Dumbarton soon after Jim McLean's arrival as manager in 1972.
